Perspective

The strangest thing on this Earth is how we view ourselves.

When you look into the mirror, what do you see? You can see your eyes that are just a little bit too small for your head, your nose that without that small bump, might be acceptable. You see your arms that stick out unnaturally against your body, your shoulders that are caved in a little too much, and your thighs.. don't even begin about them. Next comes your stomach and if you suck it in a little bit more, might make you look a little bit thinner. You can't forget about your jaw line, just a little bit too mushed when you turn your face a certain way. And what would happen if we were a couple inches taller.. how much the world would be different if we were a couple inches taller..

We are so hard on ourselves that we never take a second to think about, when someone else looks at you, what do they see?

I began to test out a theory a couple of months ago, and now it's become second nature to me. If I notice something that stands out to me about a person, I let them know right then and there. Last week I noticed that one of my colleagues had a really lovely dress on that made her look absolutely gorgeous. Instead of being naturally jealous, I told her specifically, "you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress." She had a smile on for the rest of the day and she wore that dress again a couple of days later. I know she wore it again because she felt good in it. We need more people to walk around feeling good about themselves.

If you notice that someone just got a haircut, let them know how lovely it is. If you notice that someone just bought a new pair of jeans, tell them the jeans definitely suit them. Don't hold back. I told someone today that the freckles on their face are sexy. It's the truth, I love freckles. On their side, freckles are something they've had their entire life and have probably always despised. I shined a new light on it for them.

Perspective is a crazy thing.

So, next time you notice something about someone, don't hold it in. Let that person know. It will make their day.
